Owen Conroy's practice focuses on complex civil litigation and has included litigation in U.S. state and federal courts as well as international arbitration. He has experience with all phases of civil litigation, including developing case strategy, discovery, motions practice, trial, and appeal.
Representative matters include defending a major Middle Eastern construction company against civil claims brought under the Antiterrorism Act, RICO, and the Alien Tort Claims Act; representing corporate insurance policyholders seeking recovery for costs related to environmental remediation, as well as for property damage and business interruption losses caused by catastrophic failures at industrial facilities; and implementing a corporate compliance program following settlement of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act charges. Owen also represents clients before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in matters involving the voluntary recall of consumer products.
Owen maintains an active pro bono practice that has included advising clients on immigration, housing, and family law issues. He coordinates Jones Day's involvement with the D.C. Bar Association's Landlord Tenant Resource Center, which provides legal information to unrepresented tenants and landlords involved in residential housing disputes.
