Paul represents employers in immigration matters and in litigation in a variety of state and federal courts across Missouri and Illinois.
Drawing on his extensive experience handling all phases of discovery and motion practice, Paul offers clients efficient strategies to manage their employment cases. He assists clients facing charges of discrimination under Title VII in front of the EEOC and state agencies. He also helps employers respond to charges, create and file position statements, and gather evidence, all with the goal of strategically positioning the employer for success.
Paul has developed a special focus on non-compete actions and has contributed to Thompson Coburn's marked success in bringing lawsuits against executives and other former employees whose competitive employment threatens the company's trade secrets, particularly in the software and technology industries. Successful outcomes in these actions have included orders of preliminary and permanent injunctions.
Paul's experience in immigration and nationality law involves both temporary nonimmigrant visa petitions and permanent employment and family-based immigrant visa "green card" applications. He has extensive experience helping businesses in securing L-1A, L-1B, and H-1B temporary work visas, and counsels clients on long-term strategies for obtaining permanent residence and U.S. citizenship for employees.
