Pedro Jimenez is an experienced restructuring lawyer whose practice focuses primarily on U.S. and cross-border transactions. His practice encompasses a solid background in restructurings, secured financings, and distressed acquisitions. Pedro has represented major constituencies in a wide array of matters, ranging from debtors' out-of-court and in-court restructurings and reorganizations, to lenders and bank groups, bondholder committees, official creditors' committees, ad hoc creditor groups, unsecured creditors, and distressed buyers.
Pedro's recent cross-border experience includes advising PT Arpeni Pratama Ocean Line, the administrator of Cozumel Caribe, S.A. de C.V., and Spansion Japan Limited. His out-of-court and chapter 11 debtor representations include Chrysler, Dana Corporation, Georgia Gulf, Proliance International, and Proquest International. Pedro represented the official creditors' committee in the General Maritime matter and bondholder and lender groups in the Calpine, Meridian Automotive Systems, Murray Energy, and Service Net Solutions restructurings. His distressed acquisitions practice includes the acquisition by Delos Megacore of Omega Investments Ltd.'s assets, the sale of RHJ International's interest in Niles Co., Ltd. to Valeo SA, and the acquisition of the senior debt of SIRVA by Aurora Resurgence.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Pedro represented Corporacion Durango, S.A. de C.V. in its cross-border restructuring, which to date remains one of the largest restructurings under Mexico's new insolvency law.
Pedro, who is Partner-in-Charge of the Miami Office, previously practiced in the New York Office for seven years. He has lectured and authored numerous articles on cross-border insolvency matters and is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and INSOL International.
