Perry W. Miles

Perry principally represents corporate defendants in high-exposure product liability matters both nationally and regionally. He has tried to verdict numerous matters in federal and state courts in Virginia and other states. He has also represented corporate clients in commercial litigation matters, class actions, warranty and consumer fraud litigation, toxic tort, and personal injury cases.

He has handled all aspects of defense litigation, including discovery, in single, class action and multidistrict litigation; advanced motions practice; corporate witness preparation; technical defenses and expert witness testimony; excluding or limiting adverse expert testimony; internal investigations; litigation testing; trial work; and appellate practice.

As defense counsel for a Big Three automaker, Perry has tried multiple-week, high-exposure cases, often in challenging jurisdictions. He has defended the automaker in product liability lawsuits alleging defects in various components and systems, including fuel systems; door latching and locking systems; tires, restraint systems; and electrical systems. He has first-chaired jury trials to verdict in Arkansas, Florida and Alabama and participated in jury trials in Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.

Perry has represented a wide range of companies, including manufacturers of firearms, smoke alarms, elevators, escalators, commercial appliances, ladders, and other products, defending them in Virginia and other jurisdictions against allegations of negligence and defect.

Perry has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, teaching appellate advocacy. Prior to joining the firm, Perry served as law clerk for Justice Elizabeth B. Lacy of the Supreme Court of Virginia.

While earning his law degree, Perry was honored as a member of the McNeil Law Society (now Order of the Coif).
