Peter V. Pantaleo

Peter Pantaleo is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and the Head of the Firm’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice. He has been exclusively involved in major workouts and reorganizations both domestically and abroad, representing nearly every constituent in the capital structure, including bank agents, ad hoc and official creditors’ committees, joint venture partners, acquirers, private equity sponsors and private portfolio companies. Peter has been actively involved in all areas of the practice—court proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, transaction structuring, negotiating, counseling, chairing meetings, writing and lecturing.

Peter has been significantly involved in many of the major corporate Chapter 11 reorganizations and restructurings during the past three decades in almost every industry, including automotive, healthcare, energy, steel, retail, real estate, media, financial services, media, entertainment and telecom.

Peter has guest-lectured on restructuring at Duke Law School, Penn Law School and Cornell’s Johnson Business School, and has appeared on numerous professional association seminar panels around the country as a guest speaker.

Peter has been ranked as one of the leading bankruptcy lawyers in the United States in a number of recent surveys, including Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America guide and Practical Law Company’s Expert Guide, Restructuring and Insolvency Handbook.

Peter is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy. He received his B.A. from Columbia College in 1978 and his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1982.
