Richard A. Helde

Mr. Helde assists financial institutions and borrowers in executing a wide variety of tax-advantaged and other types of financings, with a particular focus on tax credit and tax-exempt bond financings. Mr. Helde regularly represents borrowers in new markets tax credit financings, historic and rehabilitation tax credit financings and other types of tax credit financings, and represents other parties to tax credit financings, such as leverage lenders and other financiers. Mr. Helde’s clients include banks and other financial institutions, nonprofit corporations, public sector entities such as cities, counties and school districts, Indian tribes, and a variety of tribal enterprises, among others. Mr. Helde frequently counsels borrowers and financiers on the availability of alternative financing opportunities, particularly tax-advantaged financing opportunities, and how to coordinate and implement multiple financing sources.

Mr. Helde also regularly represents underwriters, issuers and borrowers in connection with tax-exempt and taxable bond financings, serving as bond counsel, counsel to the underwriter, counsel to the placement agent and counsel to the borrower in connection with offerings or placements of 501(c)(3) bonds, housing bonds, health care revenue bonds, industrial revenue bonds, lease revenue bonds and syndications of participation interests in tax-exempt and taxable loan, note and lease transactions. Mr. Helde also represents banks and other financial institutions in connection with tax-advantaged and other transactions, including tax credit and debt financings, issuance of letters of credit or other credit or liquidity enhancement instruments, and tax-exempt and other kinds of loan financings.
