Richard G. Reinis

Richard's hands-on business experience as a real estate developer, manufacturer, and as chairman and general counsel of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts' largest franchisee informs his practice in the business litigation department. He has represented clients from diverse industries and served as lead counsel in significant commercial litigation and in the merger and acquisition of middle market companies.

Transactions that have concluded under Richard's leadership include the sale or acquisition of an LED company, an apparel company, an energy company, an automobile parts company, a toy company, an auction house, and a large California ranch. He has participated significantly in the restructuring of a music publisher, a temporary power provider, a swimsuit importer, and a chain of restaurants. Richard has also served as lead counsel in employer defense matters, trade secrets litigation, probate matters, franchise and licensing disputes, minority interest litigation, and trademark and copyright litigation.

Richard has been a keynote speaker at more than 70 conventions and executive training sessions on the "management-under-stress" lessons learned from building a business that employed 1,400.

On behalf of the USDOL, Richard has lectured national retailers on FLSA issues. He also lectures at local colleges on labor law compliance and intellectual property.

Richard has served as an expert witness on apparel-related litigation matters and is a court-appointed Special Master. He previously served as lead counsel in several state court jury trials and has experience with the American Arbitration Association, the ICC, and in federal court litigation.

Richard is a nationally recognized speaker on issues related to corporate governance, conduct of work-outs and disposal of assets in non-bankruptcy settings, the conflict between public and private companies in strategic relationships, HR issues related to downsizing, and the roots of the current economic crisis.
