Richard Gagnon is a counsel in the Tax Group. His practice focuses primarily on representing U.S. and foreign clients in federal tax disputes at the administrative level before the Internal Revenue Service and in federal trial and appellate courts. He has served as one of the lead attorneys in numerous reported cases as well as cases that were resolved through settlement.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Gagnon served as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division. He received a Tax Division Special Commendation Award for his work on several large, high profile cases. After law school, he clerked for Chief Judge John T. Nixon of the United States District Court in Nashville, TN.
