Richard’s practice focuses on business, professional liability and complex commercial litigation, especially with reference to the liability of financial, accounting and other business professionals, and including the business liability of medical professionals. He also handles internal corporate investigations, corporate governance issues and insurance and reinsurance disputes. He has conducted litigation and arbitration proceedings in a broad range of professional liability, business, healthcare, antitrust, RICO, commercial and insurance matters.

Richard is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics related to his practice. This includes a class on Legal Elements of Commercial Fraud that he taught at Northwestern University.

Richard served as managing partner of the Chicago office from 2004 to 2008. He is a former member of the firm's Board of Partners and the Diversity Committee.
