Rick’s practice focuses on financial services and commercial litigation, copyright and trademark litigation, and media law. He has represented both large and small businesses in contract disputes, banks in check fraud claims and loan defaults, newspapers in battles over public meetings and public records, and athletes seeking to protect and enforce their trademark rights.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Rick worked in the Florida State Attorney’s Office, the Education Section of the North Carolina State Attorney General’s Office and as a staff writer for The Dispatch in Lexington, North Carolina.

Rick was a member of the Holderness Moot Court Environmental Appellate Advocacy Team at the University of North Carolina School of Law. A native of Lexington, North Carolina, Rick is a Morehead Scholar and an Eagle Scout.
