Robert Kinberg

Robert Kinberg has a broad range of experience to offer clients in the intellectual property arena. In the area of patent prosecution, he was a U.S. Patent Examiner. As a patent attorney, Mr. Kinberg successfully prosecuted close to two thousand patent applications in diverse technologies before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He regularly counsels clients on validity, infringement and freedom to operate issues. As a patent attorney for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Mr. Kinberg was involved in determining invention rights between the Government and contractors, and formed part of the Government defense team in the liability phase of the landmark litigation United States v. Hughes Aircraft. His experience as an executive in a high technology company directly involved in licensing and developing new technologies brings an added dimension to clients.

Additionally, Mr. Kinberg has extensive experience in filing applications in foreign countries and has developed a large network of reliable patent law firms and personal relationships with attorneys worldwide for foreign patent filings.

Mr. Kinberg chairs Venable's Israel Desk. He is the go-to person for legal matters involving Israeli companies doing business in the U.S. and for U.S. companies doing business in Israel.

Technical Experience
Mr. Kinberg is experienced in the areas of electronics, electrical systems, semiconductors, computers, computer software applications, telecommunications, high power radio frequency systems, electro-mechanical, electro-optical and electro-acoustic systems, measuring and sensing devices of all types, complicated high speed mechanical systems, medical devices and prosthetics, and nanotechnology.

Activities
In March 2012, Mr. Kinberg lectured in China on IP issues facing Chinese manufactures entering U.S. market.

From 1990 to 2000, Mr. Kinberg was an instructor with the Patent Resources Group on drafting patent applications.

He also held positions as a Patent Advisor in the Navy's and Air Force's Offices of the Judge Advocate General, and served as a Patent Attorney with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
