Robert L. Rogers III

Robert L. Rogers III is a senior counsel in Holland & Knight's Orlando office and a member of the firm's Media Team. Mr. Rogers assists clients with a variety of media law issues, including defending newspaper publishers from libel and defamation actions, opposing requests for the production of privileged information from journalists, and obtaining public records through requests applying the federal Freedom of Information Act and the Florida Sunshine Law. Mr. Rogers also manages a variety of other complex commercial litigation matters, including actions involving fraud, violations of deceptive trade practice and misleading advertising statutes, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, negligence and commercial eviction.

Mr. Rogers defends developers from class-action complaints alleging fraudulent misrepresentations and nondisclosures in connection with land sales, including statutory counts for misleading advertising. He has also managed several multi-county campaigns of lawsuits, including actions seeking commercial eviction and unpaid rent for spaces at shopping malls, actions seeking unpaid fees for emergency medical helicopter transportation and actions seeking unpaid fees for equipment rental. Mr. Rogers has experience in state and constitutional land use and zoning litigation, including defending constitutional challenges to zoning decisions and asserting and defending petitions for writ of certiorari.

Mr. Rogers has represented indigent clients seeking asylum in the United States before the Immigration Court of the United States Department of Justice, by both drafting briefs on immigration law and presenting proof of the merits of asylum claims at evidentiary hearings before the Immigration Court.
