William Beard

is a partner in King & Spalding’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Austin office. For 18 years, Mr. Beard has litigated patent and trademark cases in courts all around the country. Mr. Beard has tried and appealed patent and trademark cases spanning a wide range of technologies, including: Internet technologies, oil & gas tools; medical devices, home appliances, polyurethane foam, fasteners, business methods, and medicated feed additive for livestock.

Prior to joining King & Spalding in 2009, Mr. Beard was a partner of the international law firm of Baker Botts, LLP, where he litigated patents in Texas and around the country. Mr. Beard was also previously an associate patent attorney in the Houston office of Bardehle, Pagenberg, Dost, Altenburg, Frohwitter, Geissler, one of the top IP law firms in Germany, where he prosecuted patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and receiving offices, international searching authorities, and international preliminary examining authorities under the Patent Cooperation Treaty administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
