Robin Cooke Vance

Robin focuses her practice primarily on intellectual property portfolio management and related transactions and dispute resolution, with a substantial portion of her work devoted to international prosecution and licensing matters, as well as intellectual property issues pertaining to the energy industry, biotechnology fields, consumer product and retail service offerings, food and beverage and personal care items. She has experience with technology development, protection, transfer and licensing, computer law, including software licensing and development agreements, domain name registration and dispute resolution, e-commerce issues, advertising law, trademark law and copyright matters. Robin's licensing experience covers a wide array of goods and services found in numerous industries such as energy, medical device/pharmaceutical development, consumer goods and services, food and beverage products, music and entertainment and statistical analysis offerings.

Robin has a great deal of experience monitoring and managing intellectual property portfolios globally, including preclearance and policing solutions, brand expansions and third-party transfers. She also has extensive experience with intellectual property issues involved in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, bankruptcies, securitizations, and joint venture arrangements.

Robin also practices in the area of data privacy and security and assists clients with auditing and evaluating their data security policies and practices, drafting website privacy policies, and providing support in the aftermath of a data breach, including compliance with breach notification laws.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Robin was an attorney at Studio Ubertazzi in Milan, Italy. In 1997, she studied International Law and Economics of the European Union at Cambridge University.
