Rosanna McCalips practices complex commercial litigation with a focus on antitrust matters. She has defended clients against multidistrict class action lawsuits alleging price-fixing or monopolization. She also has experience defending pharmaceutical companies against allegations of antitrust violations premised on the alleged misuse of intellectual property rights or the regulatory approval processes to extend market exclusivity for brand name drugs. Her other litigation experience includes cases involving claims against federal agencies under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), claims arising from credit card security breaches, and claims of professional negligence related to Pap smear testing.
In addition to litigation, Rosanna has experience in alternative dispute resolution, having represented clients in international arbitration proceedings before arbitral panels of the International Chamber of Commerce.
Representative clients include Laboratory Corporation of America, sanofi-aventis, Verizon Business, and ViroPharma Incorporated.
Rosanna is active in pro bono activities. She recently represented tenants in obtaining compensation from their landlord for violations of the housing code as part of the Firm's initiative to assist in the preservation of affordable housing in the District of Columbia. Her other pro bono work included representing a death row inmate appealing his conviction and representing a commodities broker appealing a finding of liability for securities fraud under the Commodity Exchange Act. She also regularly participates in the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program Advice and Referral Clinic.
