Ryan B. McCrum

Ryan McCrum's practice is in the area of intellectual property, focusing primarily on patent infringement litigation and counseling. He has extensive experience representing clients in U.S. district and appellate courts as well as before the International Trade Commission. In 2013, Ryan was named a "Rising Star" by IPLaw360, a recognition that was awarded to only nine IP lawyers throughout the country. IPLaw360 described Ryan as "a fierce competitor in . . . patent cases."

Ryan's more recent experience includes representing two major consumer electronics companies in a case brought by LGE. At trial, he shared first-chair responsibilities and cross-examined LGE's chief technical experts on two of the four asserted patents as well as several other key witnesses. The case settled favorably after nearly all claims of the four patents were found invalid and/or not infringed. In another recent case, Ryan represented Callaway Golf in an ITC action brought by Hitachi Metals. On the eve of trial, Hitachi withdrew all claims against Callaway. On the offensive side, Ryan recently led a case for GE with respect to patents related to LEDs.

Ryan's has experience in numerous technology fields and with many clients. Representative clients include Callaway Golf, TSMC, SanDisk, Intersil, Texas Instruments, Nexteer Automotive, Avid Technologies, GE, American Honda, and Procter & Gamble.

Ryan lectures and publishes on various issues related to patent litigation and counseling. In addition, he is a member of a number of bar associations and is the active chair of the IP Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
