Ryan Patrick O Connor



Ryan O’Connor is a Principal in the Southern California office of Fish & Richardson. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property litigations throughout the country in a wide variety of technology areas including pharmaceuticals/chemicals, biotechnology, medical devices, internet advertising, and computer hardware/software, among others.

Mr. O’Connor received his Juris Doctor degree and Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) in 2007. Before attending law school, he earned undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado.

Prior to joining Fish, Mr. O’Connor was a summer associate with the firm and a Student Attorney at the Franklin Pierce Intellectual Property and Business Transactions Clinic. He also contributed to an amicus brief filed on behalf of Frank Pierce Law Center in KSR Int’l Co. v. Teleflex, Inc., 550 U.S. 398 (2007) (No. 04-1350), prepared comments on legislative patent reform, and prepared freedom to operate opinions for the Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture (PIPRA).

Mr. O’Connor has technical experience investigating novel antibiotics as a Biochemist at Replidyne, assisting Pharma, Biotech and Medical Device companies with product development as a regulatory consultant at CBR International, troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing processes used to create x-ray film and various paints/coatings as an Engineer at Kodak and Valspar, respectively, and researching over-expression of recombinant DNA in E. Coli as a Research Assistant for Professor Ryan Gill at the University of Colorado.
