Shawn Stephens is a partner and appellate specialist in King & Spalding’s Houston office. With more than 25 years of experience, she looks for creative ways to both win appeals and establish law that will continue to help her clients in the future. Shawn is recognized as one of the Southwest's leading appellate lawyers and has argued more than 100 appeals for companies and individuals in a wide variety of industries and issues. Shawn also teams with trial lawyers regarding error preservation and other post-trial motions and consults with trial lawyers to prepare them for oral arguments or media presentations. Board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995, Shawn was also one of the first four attorneys to be nationally certified in appellate law by the American Institute of Appellate Practice and was the first woman and first Texan to earn this distinction. She has been named a “SuperLawyer” every year since the inception of that designation.
