Sam Rutherford is a partner in the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on the health care and financial services industries. Mr. Rutherford is a member of the firm’s Health Care, Financial Services, and Appellate litigation teams. He has represented companies throughout the country in a broad range of litigation, including claims involving unfair trade practices statutes, the False Claims Act, the Sherman Act, federal and state health care regulations, the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Bayh-Dole Act.

Mr. Rutherford also has extensive experience in appellate litigation, including matters in the Supreme Court of the United States, state supreme courts and multiple federal circuits. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Georgia Court of Appeals. In addition, he served as a chapter editor for the recently published seventh edition of the Georgia Appellate Practice Handbook.

Mr. Rutherford was recognized as a "Rising Star" by Georgia Super Lawyers magazine in 2014. Mr. Rutherford received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif, and received his A.B., magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia.
