Dr. Brown is Special Counsel at McCarter & English and has more than thirteen years of experience practicing in intellectual property matters. She assists clients in both the U.S. and abroad, with patent prosecution and portfolio development, freedom to operate analysis and product clearance, intellectual property due diligence for corporate financing transactions, and intellectual property licensing.

Dr. Brown has represented a wide range of clients, including universities, start-ups, and major companies, in such technical areas as geomechanical reservoir oil production simulation, seismic recording systems and data processing, clean energy technology, energy demand response and optimization, data center resource management, nanotechnology, graphene, flexible electronics, semiconductor devices, microelectromechanical (MEMS) and nanoelectromechanical (NEMS) systems, computer hardware and software, linear accelerators, nuclear magnetic resonance systems, spectroscopic systems, electrocardiogram, fuel cells, microfluidic systems, electric motors, liquid crystal displays, medical devices, mechanical devices, biofuels, and bioinformatics.

As a doctoral candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Brown gained hands-on experience in nanotechnology, carbon nanotubes and nanofibers, graphite, conducting polymers, semiconductor materials, and biophysics. She conducted research in optoelectronic devices while a postdoctoral member of technical staff at Lucent Technologies. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of polymer electrolytes.

Dr. Brown was previously in-house patent counsel at Hewlett-Packard Company and an Associate in the New York office of an international law firm.
