Sarah Butler Whitney

Sarah Whitney is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice group and a member of Cooley's Litigation department. She joined the Firm in 2013 and is a resident in the Palo Alto Office.

Ms. Whitney's practice focuses on intellectual property litigation with an emphasis on patent litigation.

Ms. Whitney earned a JD in 2013 from Santa Clara University School of Law, cum laude, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. Ms. Whitney also received a High Tech Law Certificate, with a specialization in Intellectual Property. During law school, she served as a member of the Honors Moot Court External Executive Board and was named third place speaker in the New York City Bar Regional Moot Court Competition, 2012. Ms. Whitney received a BA in Philosophy and Political Science, with departmental honors, from Northwestern University in 2008. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a project assistant at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago.

Ms. Whitney is admitted to practice in California and is a member of the State Bar of California.
