Sarah Borders

is a partner in the firm’s Financial Restructuring Practice Group with a focus on financial institutions. She is the leader of the firm’s Capital Transactions and Real Estate Practice Group and also serves as a member of the firm’s Policy Committee.

Ms. Borders has extensive experience representing both creditors and debtors in some of the nation’s largest workouts, restructurings and bankruptcy cases. Ms. Borders’ insolvency practice spans a number of industries, with a particular focus on complex issues in financing insolvent entities and real estate restructurings. In addition, Ms. Borders has represented lenders and borrowers in a number of complex real estate financing transactions including term loans, revolving credit facilities, bridge loans, securitized financing and credit lease transactions.

Ms. Borders was included in the last several annual directories of The Best Lawyers in America, was recognized as one of Georgia’s “Legal Elite” each of the past five years and Chambers USA continues to select her as a leading lawyer in her practice area. Ms. Borders has been selected for inclusion in Law and Business Research’s International Who’s Who of Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers, Atlanta Magazine’s Georgia Super Lawyers and Legal 500 Corporate Restructuring and Real Estate Attorneys. She is a frequent speaker on restructuring issues, including presentations at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the Federal Judicial Conference for Bankruptcy Judges and multiple seminars for the American Bankruptcy Institute and Practicing Law Institute. Ms. Borders is a past President of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Georgia and a fellow in The American College of Bankruptcy.

Ms. Borders, a native of Louisiana, graduated from Louisiana State University and the University of Virginia School of Law. She was a former law clerk for Judge Henry A. Politz of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
