Scott M. Lapins helps businesses, banks and institutional lenders negotiate, document and close the full range of real estate development, financing, purchase and sale transactions. Scott also represents lenders in complex loan workouts, restructurings, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure transactions and other matters involving distressed assets.

Scott regularly represents clients throughout the United States in projects involving apartment buildings, condominiums, mixed-use developments, hotels, shopping centers and office buildings. He provides counsel on syndicated construction mortgage and mezzanine financing transactions, bond and bond-related credit enhancements, and related forms of real estate financing. To help clients address ongoing legal and business issues and achieve their strategic objectives, Scott also provides effective general legal counsel on day-to-day corporate and tax matters, including business formations, joint ventures, 1031 exchanges, and purchases, sales and mergers.

Scott previously served as the court-appointed arbitrator in the disposition of claims that were part of the $500 million settlement relating to allegations of securities violations brought against Prudential Securities.
