Mr. Pearson has defeated or favorably settled more than 80 class actions. His class-action clients have included national banks and other financial institutions, Internet companies, apparel and cosmetics manufacturers, sports and entertainment companies, and other firms that deal regularly with consumers or small businesses.

Mr. Pearson is exceptionally well-versed in consumer lending, including the statutes and regulations governing mortgages, credit cards, student loans, auto finance, debt collection, and credit reporting. In addition to litigation, Mr. Pearson regularly defends high-profile regulatory enforcement proceedings brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and others.

Mr. Pearson also has a rapidly growing regulatory compliance practice. He has counseled some of the world's largest financial institutions on compliance matters, and regularly advises both finance companies and other consumer businesses on compliance and litigation avoidance strategies. Mr. Pearson leads Ballard Spahr’s Marketplace Lending Task Force, working with numerous players in this space on both the P2P and B2B sides of the industry.
