Sean J. Riley

Sean J. Riley is a member of Cozen O’Connor’s State Attorneys General Practice. Prior to joining Cozen O'Connor, Sean served as the Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Before ascending to Chief Deputy, Sean served in various other positions in the office including as a Special Attorney in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and as Director of the Civil & Environmental Law Division. Sean initiated and managed complex civil litigation and investigatory work on behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky involving significant issues of public consequence.

In his current role, Sean advises clients on legal and policy matters related to state attorneys general, including multi-state investigations and litigation in state and federal court. Just as critically, Sean focuses on working with clients to achieve practical resolutions that mitigate risk and avoid litigation.

Before joining the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, Sean worked in private practice where he has handled high-profile criminal defense matters and federal criminal investigations for clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

Sean earned his law degree at Columbia Law School, with a designation as a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and his undergraduate degree at Duke University, where he studied public policy.
