Shane Brun, a partner in Goodwin Procter's IP Litigation Group, is a PTO-registered intellectual property litigator with a background in industrial engineering and semiconductor manufacturing. He has extensive experience representing major technology companies, both as plaintiffs and defendants, in patent litigation and other intellectual property and technology-related matters, including trade secret and trademark litigation. His IP practice involves a wide range of technologies, including Internet security, computer networking, wireless communications, microlithography, plasma displays, optical alignment, inspection systems, and digital imaging. Mr. Brun has a national practice and regularly represents clients before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. District Courts in California, Texas and Delaware. Mr. Brun also frequently advises firm clients on various intellectual property issues, including in connection with M&A and financial transactions.

Mr. Brun has also served as in-house counsel to public technology companies NBC Internet and OpenTV. He represented these companies in M&A transactions and in the formation of strategic partnerships; negotiated a broad range of commercial agreements, including licensing technology and intellectual property rights; procured patent rights for company products and services; advised company executives on regulatory issues, SEC filings and other public disclosures; oversaw human resources and employment matters; and hired and managed outside counsel.
