Shawn Cleveland represents companies, corporate officers, and directors in government and internal investigations, white-collar criminal cases, corporate governance matters, and complex business litigation.

Shawn has represented clients in numerous DOJ and SEC investigations into alleged securities fraud involving false and misleading disclosures, accounting fraud, and insider trading as well as concurrent shareholder derivative suits and securities class actions. He has conducted sensitive internal investigations and corporate governance counseling for Fortune 500 companies as well as private and government controlled entities. Shawn has represented health care companies in criminal and civil fraud cases involving alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act including qui tam litigation. He also conducts investigations and counseling in data privacy and security matters.

In complex business litigation, Shawn has extensive experience successfully leading litigation teams in state and federal courts and in arbitration. His civil litigation experience includes disputes over defense contracts, distribution contracts, oil and gas leases and operating agreements, commercial loans, real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, insurance coverage, trade secret misappropriation, violation of non-use and nondisclosure agreements, noncompete agreements, and breach of fiduciary duty in the public and private company context.

Shawn has significant industry knowledge gained from his work with clients in the areas of defense contracting, telecommunications, health care, energy, technology, banking, distribution, manufacturing, and construction.

Before entering law practice, Shawn was a certified public accountant and financial statement auditor for a national accounting firm.
