Sheldon is actively involved in the tax structuring of business joint ventures and real estate related transactions. He regularly counsels clients, including foreigners, on tax issues of owning, operating and disposing of real estate, structuring Section 1031 like-kind exchanges, operating REITs, and forming investment funds. He is also active in the tax structuring of corporate mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, and reorganizations. He regularly counsels clients on tax issues related to limited liability companies, partnerships and S corporations. He also has extensive experience in the income tax aspects of debt restructuring and workouts. Sheldon also handles state and local tax matters, including representing clients in state and local tax audits.
