Stacey F. Gottlieb

Stacey F. Gottlieb

focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense. Stacey’s white collar practice includes defense of corporations and individuals against state and federal indictments, as well as in pre-indictment investigations and negotiations. She has wide-ranging experience in cases alleging fraud, Ponzi schemes, securities violations, environmental crimes, conspiracy, money laundering, racketeering and obstruction of justice. Her diverse complex commercial litigation experience includes cases alleging corporate and individual liability arising from the business affairs of corporate officers and directors, brokers/dealers, accountants, and other financial professionals, as well as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary obligations, insurance bad faith, theft of trade secrets, and various other business torts.

Stacey has served on a team of national coordinating counsel for a major insurance industry client and has coordinated multi-jurisdictional litigation in several civil and while collar criminal cases. She has represented a major wireless carrier in commercial and security breach matters and also served as lead counsel for one of the nation’s largest retail chains in connection with development of its security, external investigations and privacy policies.

Stacey also has broad experience in complex declaratory judgment actions seeking temporary restraining orders, preliminary and permanent injunctions, including on behalf of the world’s largest money transmitter and its affiliates, other public and private companies, and a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee, among others. Some of these matters have involved Constitutional Commerce Clause, Due Process Clause, and Fourth Amendment challenges, as well as statutory and other jurisdictional challenges to state agencies’ and directors’ improper assertion of regulatory authority over financial services clients.

Stacey has first-chaired numerous jury trials and has argued cases before the Arizona Supreme Court and Arizona Court of Appeals. As a result of her jury trial and courtroom experience, Stacey has served as a panelist or speaker at various seminars for professional organizations, the judiciary, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), and the Arizona State University College of Law. She has also moderated, organized or served on several distinguished national panels regarding electronic discovery, including the ABA’s First Annual Symposium on e-Discovery in 2007.
