Staton M. Childers joined Adams and Reese in 2017 as a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group in the firm’s Houston office. Staton is a trial lawyer with a practice that focuses primarily on serving companies in the oil and gas, energy and petrochemical industries throughout Texas. For more than two decades, he has worked with companies to address their legal needs, from developing defense strategies to creating proactive solutions that help prevent future litigation.

In the legal community, Staton is a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Houston Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court. He has also served on the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Legal Advisory Committee since 2003.

In the community, Staton serves on the Advisory Board for Bo’s Place, a nonprofit bereavement center offering free grief support services to adults, children and families in the greater Houston area. He previously served on the organization’s Board of Directors from 2008 to 2013. Staton also serves as a board member for West University Little League.

Staton earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. While a law student, he was a member of the Advocates Board. He also received a Finalist award and an award for Best Brief in a competition with the law school's national moot court team. He received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics magna cum laude from Texas A&M University.

In his spare time, Staton enjoys coaching his two sons in baseball and in football.
