Stephanie A. Blair

Stephanie A. 'Tess' Blair is the founder and practice group leader of Morgan Lewis's eData Practice. Ms. Blair and her team offer full-cycle electronic discovery and information governance services to organizations across the globe. The eData team includes both lawyers and technologists, who support a state-of-the-art data center and technology portfolio, to deliver comprehensive counseling and technical services under one roof. eData’s mission is to combine great lawyering with technology and process to deliver real efficiency and value to clients.

As the leader of the eData Practice, Ms. Blair works with lawyers and clients to develop and implement strategies to successfully manage complex litigation. As a recognized thought leader in electronic discovery, Ms. Blair has developed industry-leading “best practices” that are designed to provide clients with sensible, defensible options for the discovery process. A Six Sigma Green Belt, Ms. Blair has invested heavily in training the entire eData team in Legal Project Management and Legal Lean Sigma.

As a Morgan Lewis partner, Ms. Blair counsels and defends clients primarily in the areas of product liability, mass torts, and complex commercial litigation. A considerable portion of her practice involves the defense of clients in national serial litigation and class actions. Ms. Blair regularly lectures on civil procedure and discovery management, serves as a discovery master, and authors articles on information governance and eDiscovery for law journals.

Ms. Blair completed a Master of Professional Studies in Law Firm Management and obtained a Green Belt in Legal Lean Sigma from George Washington University in 2011. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1997, where she was named to the Order of the Coif. She was also a member of the University of Miami Moot Court and served as projects editor for the University of Miami Law Review. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, in philosophy from Ursinus College in 1994.

Prior to receiving her bachelor’s degree, Ms. Blair studied industrial design at the Philadelphia College of Art, where she concentrated on product development, computer-aided design, and marketing. She also gained invaluable entrepreneurial insight by founding and operating a small business before pursuing her law degree.

Ms. Blair is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
