Steve is a partner in the firm's Business Litigation Group. As a former federal prosecutor and official with the Department of Justice, Steve draws on his nearly 20 years’ experience in government to help corporate and individual clients prevent and defend against litigation and government investigations, particularly in the fields of health care and financial regulation. He also uses this experience to advise corporations on developing and implementing compliance programs; conducting internal investigations; and assessing criminal, civil and administrative liability. A seasoned litigator, Steve successfully tried more than 22 complex criminal cases to verdict in federal court and argued more than 35 appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Steve has significant expertise in health care compliance, fraud and abuse matters, particularly involving the False Claims Act.
