Stephen is a member of Reed Smith’s Insurance Recovery Group and represents corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation. Stephen’s primary focus is representing commercial policyholders throughout the United States and internationally in significant coverage disputes against insurance carriers, including those involving bad faith and insurance code violations. Stephen's forte is handling large property and business interruption claims. His clients span a wide variety of industries, including energy, chemical, oil & gas, heavy equipment, waste disposal, financial services and food processing.
Stephen has a long history of successfully negotiating with, and litigating against, virtually all of the major insurers. His insights into the insurance industry are partly the result of having held a senior claims position for one of the largest domestic insurance carriers in the United States before attending law school. Stephen frequently speaks on insurance issues, and is the former editor-in-chief of the LexisNexis Texas Annotated Insurance Code.
