Stephen Marcellino is a seasoned litigator and strategic advisor who focuses on general, product and professional liability defense and insurance and reinsurance coverage matters. Steve has been with the firm since its inception. As the co-chair of Wilson Elser’s General Liability & Casualty practice, chair of the firm’s ADR practice and long-standing member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Steve has been recognized as one of the most influential and well-regarded lawyers in the United States serving the insurance community.

During the last 38 years, Steve has handled some of the firm’s most complex, high-exposure litigations and arbitrations as a trial lawyer and manager of national and international cases. He has designed and implemented innovative alternative dispute resolution programs, bringing contentious multi-plaintiff and claim portfolios matters to expeditious and cost-effective conclusions. In addition, he acts as a neutral mediator on behalf of the U.S. federal court system in connection with high-profile matters.

With his knowledge and experience as a backdrop, Steve regularly is retained to serve as settlement counsel to carriers and their insureds in connection with nationwide class actions, multi district litigations, employment practices, catastrophic multiparty injury and property damage cases, domestic and international product liability claims, and other complex issues. In this role, he assesses, develops and implements a settlement strategy for a case designed to effectuate a resolution short of trial through negotiation and mediation. He also regularly is engaged by insurance company clients to resolve coverage disputes and provide strategic advice in connection with product development and program creation.
