Stephen R. Finn

Stephen R. Finn is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Real Estate Practice. Mr. Finn also plays a major role in the real estate practice in the San Francisco office. Engaged in real estate practice continuously since December of 1972, he is responsible for real estate and related matters including, but not limited to, finance, work-outs, land use, development, corporate real estate, acquisitions, sales, leasing, joint ventures and redevelopment.

Mr. Finn has been intimately involved in restructuring real estate companies to develop increased net worth and liquidity for the principals of these companies and adapt these companies to the New Age business environment. His practice includes representing a client in the development of an 8,000-unit master plan community on 4,000 acres in Southeast Orange County; restructuring Western United States development company with annual projects in the $400,000,000 range; recently represented the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation in connection with its analysis of the San Francisco 49er Stadium; restructured Northern California developer to terminate existing partnerships and recapitalize company; represented major large-box retail company in opening 100 stores throughout the Western United States. Additionally, he has been focused on continually upgrading knowledge-based systems regarding the new technologies.

In 2004, Mr. Finn was named Attorney of the Year by California Lawyer magazine in the Law Practice Management category. He was chosen for the award for his leadership and vision in bringing 250 partners, associates and staff to Morgan Lewis and opening three new offices in California. Winners of this prestigious award are selected based on their impact on the California legal community.

Mr. Finn has been a lecturer on Contract Drafting and Negotiating, Land Use and Development at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) from 1973 to 1979. He has also lectured to the following groups: American Institute of Planners; Bay Area Council; California Continuing Education of the Bar; California League of Cities; Industrial Development Research Council; International Council of Shopping Centers; Lambda Alpha; National Association of Industrial and Office Parks; San Francisco Barristers Club; Society of Industrial Realtors; St. Mary’s College Visiting Lecturer; U.C. Berkeley Policy Advisory Board; Urban Land Institute.

Mr. Finn is admitted to practice in California.
