Steven R. Miles

Steven Miles serves as Baker Botts’ Energy Sector Chair and heads the 50+ lawyer LNG Practice. His practice focuses on the energy sector in the United States and internationally, particularly in the liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas, electric power and renewable energy industries.

Mr. Miles has worked on over 100 major LNG transactions worldwide, including having assisted clients in launching such leading-edge projects as the first new LNG export project in North America in 40 years (Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG project), the first LNG project in South America, the first LNG project to commit to export LNG to the West Coast of North America, one of the first floating regasification terminals and the first LNG imports into new terminals in Brazil, China, India, the E.U., the U.S. and several other countries. He is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), as well as Co-Chair of the 200 member AIPN LNG Committee , which recently published a Model LNG Master Sales Agreement for use by the LNG industry. He also serves as member of the Program Committee for LNG 17 (the triennial LNG conference to be held in Houston in 2013), and as a member of the Advisory Board for Energy Law 360.

Steven is ranked as one of the leading experts in his field by Chambers USA’s Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers, 2005-2014 (Band 1, LNG), Guide to the World’s Leading Energy & Natural Resource Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal, 2010-2014 (for Energy and for Project Finance), The Legal 500 U.S. (2013 & 2014), and The Best Lawyers in America, 2007-2015, and he has also been recognized in PLC Which Lawyer?, Super Lawyers and Cross-Border Finance Handbook.
