Susan L. Germaise

Susan serves as regional chair of the McGuireWoods Women’s Leadership Forum and a member of McGuireWoods Council. She represents clients in a broad range of commercial litigation matters including business disputes, products liability cases and employment claims, as well as consumer-related litigation. She has defended single plaintiff and class claims involving alleged violations of state consumer protection and unfair business practices statutes, including California's Business & Professions Code Section 17200, the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

She also has extensive experience in real estate and construction litigation. She serves as counsel for institutional and private landlords and tenants, and buyers and sellers in all types of real estate litigation, including lease disputes, purchase and sale disputes, broker's commission disputes, bankruptcy proceedings and litigation regarding title issues. She also represents owners, contractors and design professionals in construction disputes and mechanic's lien litigation, and counsels and defends claims involving Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

She was designated a "Super Lawyer" in 2012, 2011 and 2009, a "Rising Star" by Thomson Reuters and the publishers of Los Angeles magazine in 2007, 2006 and 2005, and was named in Real Estate Southern California's special "40 under 40" feature in 2006.
