Susan Stevens Mullen

Susan Stevens Mullen is special counsel to the Real Estate practice group and a member of the Cooley Business department. She joined the Firm in 2000 and is resident in the Reston office.

Ms. Mullen is a transactional commercial real estate attorney. Her areas of expertise include the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, and management of office buildings, data centers, assisted living facilities and retail shopping centers.

Ms. Mullen represents landlords in the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, office leases, property management agreements, exclusive leasing agreements, as well as all aspects of mortgage financing.

Ms. Mullen works closely with the Clean Energy & Technologies practice group on the title, leasing and real estate aspects of major U.S. wind energy developments and other renewable energy products.

Ms. Mullen routinely represents Cooley's corporate, emerging growth, high tech and biotech clients in the acquisition or leasing of headquarters space, expansion office space, and laboratory or research and development facilities, and she works closely with the Mergers & Acquisitions practice group on the real estate aspects of their corporate transactions.

Prior to joining Cooley, she was a partner in the commercial real estate department at McGuireWoods LLP in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Previously, she was an associate at Watt, Tieder & Hoffar in McLean, Virginia, and Smith, Gambrell & Russel in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ms. Mullen received a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1988. She received a B.A. in English from Duke University, magna cum laude, in 1985.

Ms. Mullen is admitted to practice in Virginia and Georgia. She is a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Georgia Bar Association.
