Tamara L. Shepard

Tamara Shepard has an extensive background in private practice and government as well as in general business operations and strategy.

Tamara’s practice focuses on tax controversy. She has extensive background working on disputes with the IRS and with state and local authorities, resolving matters on behalf of corporate clients as well as for estates, trusts and individuals. Tamara has experience working on a broad range of domestic and international issues including withholding tax liabilities, employment taxes, tax shelters, estate tax, transferee liability, excise taxes, subpart F, transfer pricing, permanent establishment and collections procedures. She assists clients with evaluation of government claims, audit defense, administrative appeals, penalty abatement requests and litigation. She also works closely with foreign counsel to manage taxpayer disputes with foreign tax authorities.

In addition to her background and experience as a lawyer, Tamara has worked extensively in business management, financial planning, portfolio management and strategy positions. She has held senior management and consulting positions in several large technology companies and has advised on best practices in business process and operations. As a result, she is particularly well suited to provide practical legal advice that is in accord with clients’ overall business goals and objectives.
