Thomas A. Arena is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm's Litigation & Arbitration Group.

A partner since 2000, Mr. Arena regularly represents financial institutions and corporations in federal and state courts in class actions, securities and bankruptcy litigation cases, and has conducted jury and non-jury trials in courts throughout the country. Mr. Arena also has substantial experience representing companies and individuals before the Department of Justice and other regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the New York Attorney General’s Office.

Prior to joining Milbank, Mr. Arena was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he participated in a wide variety of investigations and successful prosecutions of criminal violations involving racketeering, tax fraud, computer fraud, bank fraud and money laundering. In 1996 and 1998, Mr. Arena received the Director’s Award for Superior Performance from the Executive Office of United States Attorneys in Washington, DC.

Mr. Arena graduated in 1989 from Yale Law School, where he was an articles editor of the Yale Law Journal. In 1986 he received an A.B., summa cum laude, from Princeton University, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He clerked for the Honorable Jon O. Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Arena is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York where he served on the Committee on Professional and Judicial Ethics. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
