Tom is a member of the Financial Industry Group, practicing in the area of Financial Services Litigation and Class Actions. His practice focuses on defending complex cases involving life insurance and financial services companies, consumer class actions, and unfair business practice actions before state and federal courts. His experience includes jury and bench trials in state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations before FINRA and the AAA. He has also handled litigation involving antitrust, trade secrets, insurance coverage, construction and real estate issues.

Tom defends and resolves class actions on both a statewide and nationwide level through litigation and negotiation. He has defended class actions brought under California’s Unfair Competition Law ("Section 17200"), the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, and false advertising statutes. Tom also defends life insurance companies in individual actions, including defense of bad faith claims, sales practices claims, and commission disputes. He has also defended a variety of retailers and manufacturers against individual claims brought under Section 17200, California’s false advertising statutes, and Proposition 65. Tom also represents clients in investigations and actions brought by public enforcement agencies seeking to enforce consumer protection laws. Tom also advises clients in the food, dietary supplement, and insurance fields regarding marketing, advertising, and compliance issues.
