Thomas B. Walsh IV

Tom Walsh, a Principal in the Dallas office of Fish & Richardson, maintains an active litigation practice that is national in scope, with previous trials in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas, the Southern District of Florida, and the Western District of Oklahoma. He has extensive experience handling and leading patent litigation cases in the Eastern District of Texas, and he has also handled and led patent litigation cases in the Northern District of California, the District of Delaware, the Southern District of New York, the Western District of Texas, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Middle District of Alabama. Mr. Walsh also has extensive experience handling commercial litigation matters. Mr. Walsh is also an elected member of the firm’s seven-person Management Committee.

Mr. Walsh is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joe Kendall, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Walsh has been selected for the Texas Super Lawyers list of top lawyers in Texas annually since 2007. Additionally, he maintains an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Walsh has lectured on a variety of substantive law issues to trial lawyers and corporate counsel. He lectured on Markman hearings at the State Bar of Texas’ Intellectual Property Law Section’s 2nd Annual Advanced Patent Litigation Course in 2006. He made a return appearance in 2007 to present on Markman hearings as well as “Injunctive Relief After eBay.” In 2009, Mr. Walsh spoke on “Arbitration: How to Bust or Follow Through on an Arbitration” at the State Bar of Texas’ Advanced Civil Trial Course in San Antonio, Texas. In 2011, Mr. Walsh spoke on the subject of “Strategies for Handling Large Numbers of Defendants” at the State Bar of Texas’ Intellectual Property Law Section’s 6th Annual Advanced Patent Litigation Course in San Antonio, Texas. He also spoke on the subject of opening statements at the State Bar of Texas’ Advanced Civil Trial Law Course in 1999.
