Thomas Christopher is a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins where he is a member of the Corporate Department and the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice.

Mr. Christopher has nearly 30 years of experience advising multinational companies, special committees and financial advisors in negotiated and hostile M&A transactions, corporate governance matters, restructurings and similar matters.

He regularly represents principals and other parties in transactions involving the purchase and sale of companies, subsidiaries, divisions, joint ventures and other assets, and has advised numerous corporations and shareholders in both negotiated and unsolicited change-of-control transactions and other investments. His practice also includes representing boards of directors and special committees in related party transactions and advising companies, investment funds and other parties in connection with shareholder activist matters, including proxy contests, shareholder proposals and related matters.

He has been recognized in The Legal 500 US as a “great public company M&A lawyer” and named to Law and Politics Magazine’s annual “New York Super Lawyers” list every year since 2010. Mr. Christopher was also selected for inclusion in the BTI Client Service All-Star list for 2010. He has been mentioned numerous times in the "Big Deals" column of The American Lawyer magazine.

Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Mr. Christopher was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Mr. Christopher served as law clerk to the Hon. Richard A. Gadbois, Jr., US District Court for the Central District of California (1984-85).
