Timothy W. Levin is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Investment Management and Securities Industry Practice and is Managing Partner of the Philadelphia office. Mr. Levin’s practice focuses on advising investment advisers and other financial services firms in connection with design, development, and management of pooled investment vehicles and investment advisory programs. He represents many types of registered investment companies, such as mutual funds and registered funds of hedge funds, and funds focused on alternative investment strategies, including business development companies (BDCs). He counsels managers of funds in connection with organization, registration, and ongoing regulatory compliance. Mr. Levin also represents managers of unregistered pooled investment vehicles, including managers and sponsors of private funds, bank collective investment trusts (CITs), and companies seeking exemption from investment company status.
Mr. Levin is listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and is recognized by Chambers as a young partner who is "rising to the top" when it comes to providing client service.
Mr. Levin is an editor of the Morgan Lewis Hedge Fund Deskbook: Legal and Practical Guide for a New Era, and the Mutual Fund Regulation and Compliance Handbook, 2008–2009 Edition, both published by Thomson Reuters/West.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Levin served as a law clerk for Judge Stephen J. McEwen, Jr., of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, from September 1995 to July 1996.
Mr. Levin is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
