Todd Garcia is a Principal in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson. Dr. Garcia’s practice emphasizes patent prosecution and counseling, opinion work, due diligence studies, and development and management of patent portfolios.

Technical areas of Dr. Garcia’s prosecution and opinion work include medical and diagnostic devices and all areas of biotechnology (such as immunology, cell and molecular biology, virology, bacteriology and biochemistry). Specific examples include antibodies and antibody engineering; therapeutic gases; human and veterinary vaccines; recombinant nucleic acids and proteins; methods of treating human and animal diseases; gene therapies; pesticides and herbicides; screening and diagnostic assays; transgenic plants, animals and cell lines; biomarkers; pharmaceuticals; diagnostic agents; blood analysis equipment; laser capture microdissection equipment; food processing techniques and compositions; biofuel technologies; stents and balloon angioplasty devices; implantable devices; dental devices; prosthetics; and injection devices.

Dr. Garcia has previous experience as a Legal Extern for Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has research experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Rhode Island where he performed bacteriology research, and as a Research Assistant with American Cyanamid, Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York, doing DTP vaccine research and production. Dr. Garcia also served as a Research Assistant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center in New York doing Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) research.
