Todd R. Farnsworth

Todd Farnsworth is a registered patent attorney and focuses his practice on technology counseling. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Farnsworth was a software engineer for over ten years. Mr. Farnsworth utilizes his technical and business experience to maximize the value of his client's intellectual property.

In addition to preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Farnsworth also counsels clients on internet and domain names. Mr. Farnsworth has advised clients on internationalized domain names as well as applying for new generic top-level domains.

Mr. Farnsworth’s practice is primarily focused on software, hardware, and computer networks. He has experience patenting networking inventions, software inventions, medical devices, mechanical devices, e-commerce inventions, and business methods. He has counseled a large variety of clients including universities, individual inventors, and startup companies to multi-national corporations.

Prior to practicing intellectual property law, Mr. Farnsworth founded Farnsworth Solutions, Inc., a software development consulting company focused on object oriented technologies. Here, in addition to increasing his technical knowledge, Mr. Farnsworth gained practical experience in the incorporation of a small entity, corporate taxation, and client management.

Before founding his own company, Mr. Farnsworth was an early employee in a successful software startup company. The startup targeted business customers by creating an enterprise scale product focused on distributed information management and coordination. As the front-end team leader, Mr. Farnsworth gained insight into creating, funding, marketing, and launching a large, business-wide software application.

Mr. Farnsworth has also gained valuable experience writing various software and internet applications for several large defense contractors. One such project included software designed to facilitate a worldwide workflow built on a secure communication network. Another project included using an object oriented language to craft a multi-threaded internet server that would respond to thousands of customized requests simultaneously.
