Tonny Lee

Tonny Lee has extensive experience working on intellectual property matters in South Korea. He has drafted complex business and technical patent litigation memos for top electronics (Fortune 500) companies; researched and drafted memos on WTO, TRIPS, other international treaties; prepared litigation memos on IP licensing disputes; examined Korean IP law and conducted comprehensive analyses; and researched and drafted economic strategies for protecting intellectual properties.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Tonny worked for several Korean organizations, including the Korean National Laboratory. During this time he filed patent and copyright applications and drafted prosecution-related documents, reviewed various patents and publications to analyze the patentability of inventions, and negotiated patent licenses with private companies and technology, know-how, and joint development agreements with public institutions.

While in college, Tonny was heavily involved in telecommunications and digital signal processing projects. He designed a wireless system that enables tetraplegic patients to operate a robotic arm by moving their tongue, which was the first of its kind, and he also created a new logistics model for a leading home improvement retailer that saved millions of dollars in routing costs.

Tonny has written and published research papers in major international journals. He is knowledgeable in several programming languages and in electronic circuit simulators.
