Trent M. Johnson is senior counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice, and focuses primarily on distribution and franchise litigation, consumer financial services litigation, and general commercial litigation. Mr. Johnson also has significant experience navigating e-discovery issues in complex commercial litigation, including in antitrust and RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) disputes. As an associate, he has substantial trial experience in both federal and state court.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Johnson was assistant counsel to Speaker of the House Michael J. Madigan of the Illinois General Assembly. He participated in all legal aspects of policymaking in the Illinois House of Representatives, including drafting, editing and performing technical analysis of legislation. He also served as an official liaison between the speaker and lobbyists, as well as a parliamentarian and legal counsel for legislative committees, and assisted house members with committee testimony and floor debate of legislation.
