Veerle Roovers' practice focuses on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy. She advises domestic and cross-border enterprises in complex chapter 11 cases and out-of-court workouts. Veerle also counsels lenders, bondholders, and other secured and unsecured creditors and creditor groups in restructuring matters, and represents clients in distressed mergers and acquisitions. She provides insolvency-related advice to international Firm clients and is a member of Jones Day's European Distress Investing Initiative.
Veerle represented the debtors in the chapter 11 cases of Chrysler, Dana, Hostess Brands, and WHX, among others. She has restructuring experience in several industries, including automotive, airline, energy, shipping, manufacturing, communications, equipment and tool rental, and temporary office space.
Veerle is a member of the New York Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is active in INSOL International (INSOL). Born and raised in Belgium, Veerle is fluent in Dutch/Flemish and French, and proficient in Spanish. Prior to joining Jones Day in New York, she was a member of the Brussels Bar.
