Victoria R. Dorfman

Victoria Dorfman represents domestic and foreign clients in appellate and Supreme Court litigation, complex commercial litigation, and international arbitration. Victoria has argued before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth, Seventh, and Ninth Circuits and the New York State Appellate Division.

Her representations include obtaining a unanimous victory for a Chinese corporate client in the U.S. Supreme Court, UNCITRAL international arbitration of a publicly traded Russian oil company's subsidiary in a dispute over a license to Russian diamond mines valued at $8 billion, a German pharmaceuticals company in state and federal courts in antitrust-patent challenges to agreements regarding a blockbuster drug's production, the Prince of Brunei against the Sultan of Brunei in state courts in disputes over assets throughout the world, European banks in New York courts in a dispute relating to their underwriting of mortgage securities, and Chrysler in challenges in the U.S. Supreme Court regarding its sale to Fiat.

Her areas of experience include jurisdiction and civil procedure, such as forum non conveniens, choice of law, conflicts of law, enforcement of arbitral awards, standing, lois de police in international arbitration, injunctions, and foreign discovery issues; bankruptcy; antitrust and general commercial litigation and related regulatory issues, such as intersection of antitrust and patent law, price-fixing, RICO, FCRA, FAA and SEC litigation, and contract disputes; and constitutional litigation.

Victoria is a native speaker of Russian and is proficient in French. She is a co-editor-in-chief of the American Bar Association Appellate Practice Journal. She has published articles on federal jurisdiction and statutory interpretation.
